The V International Fireworks Festival "Rostec" will be held with the support of the Moscow Tourism Committee on August 17 and 18 in Brateevsky Cascade Park. Its theme this year is theater.
Pyrotechnicians from Argentina, Italy, Spain, Canada, Pakistan, Portugal, Russia and France will take part in the festival.
Opening and closing ceremonies of the festival
The opening ceremony of the festival will begin at 21:00 on August 17. The pyrotechnic show will be shown by last year's winner, a team from Slovakia.
During the opening and closing of the festival, 30-meter towers with lighting and pyrotechnic equipment are used. Viewers will see original figures of different colors and shapes.
At the opening and closing ceremonies and in the intervals between performances of the competition program, a light projection show will be shown, on which the best Russian lighting artists worked.
For each ceremony, musical works by famous Russian composers, created for theatrical productions, were selected.
Filming of fireworks, including from the air, will be broadcast on screens during the performances. Thanks to this, the audience will be able to be at the center of the action.
“TV Festival”, “Masterslavl” and a climbing wall: daytime program
The event will feature the TV Festival for the first time. Guests will be introduced to the stages of the television process. The bravest ones will be able to try themselves as an announcer and record the festival news on camera. They will be broadcast on screens located throughout the park.
In addition, the park will feature a climbing wall and an obstacle course. You can also play mini-golf and board games, and practice aerial and classical yoga. A separate part of the program will be devoted to theatrical art. The park will host master classes on creating polygonal masks, wigs and mustaches, on staging a play for a Japanese portable theater, and will also tell the history of the creation of theatrical costumes and puppets and offer a visit to the theater for children aged three to five years.

For children, the festival will feature the “Masterslavl” city of professions playground, the “Locomotive” attraction, and rental of balance bikes.
Over 30 gastronomic projects will be presented in the park .
Music program and fireworks show
Russian musicians will perform at the festival On August 17, the headliners of the concert program will be the singer Yolka and the group “Bravo”, and on August 18 - Dima Bilan and Yulianna Karaulova.
The competition program will consist of a free performance and the participant’s calling card - fireworks in the colors of the national flag with musical accompaniment.
All eight teams will present premieres of pyrotechnic performances to music from popular operas, ballets, operettas and musicals. Before the performances, the presenter will talk about the history of the compositions.

Golden Assol
The winner of the competition will receive as a reward the symbol of the festival - a figurine of a girl with fireworks opening above her head. The organizers have prepared three prizes - gold, silver and bronze.
The figurines are made by hand - each of them took about 96 hours of work to create. The symbol is named after Assol - it was chosen as a result of a competition announced on the festival pages on social networks. One of the most popular fireworks of the new generation, developed in the 1980s, also bears the name Assol. Its caliber is 100 millimeters.
Serpent Gorynych, a squirrel from a fairy tale by Alexander Pushkin and a multi-level labyrinth
A mascot was created especially for the anniversary festival - Gorynych the Snake . The five-meter installation of a fairy-tale creature will flap its wings, move its tail and spew smoke from time to time.

For the festival, the park will also be decorated with other art objects, for example, “A Doll’s House” . Each room in it is a separate scene from a theatrical production. In the green room you can see a squirrel from “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” by Alexander Pushkin . In the red room, thanks to the wind, birds in a cage will move, reminiscent of the fairy tale by Maurice Maeterlinck . In the pink room, visitors will be greeted by figures from Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, which can be controlled using special mechanisms.
The festival will also feature an art installation that will remind you of Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard.” In a multi-level labyrinth with theatrical decorations, you can take a photo as a souvenir.
Festival jury
The performance of the teams will be assessed by an international jury. Among its members are the creators of pyrotechnic shows and the heads of the world's largest pyrotechnic companies. These include Nancy Rozzi (USA), Dominic Brezak (Andorra), David Parente (Italy), Paul Soukassi (Canada) and Lubomir Macar (Slovakia).
Composer Igor Krutoy and film director Pavel Chukhrai will evaluate the artistic and musical components of the show.
The event will be held for the fifth time. Last year, the festival show was watched by more than 700 thousand spectators.
Children under seven years of age can attend the festival free of charge when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

Many of us can stare endlessly at fireworks and all kinds of pyrotechnic special effects. For a long time I had been planning to not just look at them, but also to capture them. Over the course of several years, I figured everything out by trial and error. I came up with a few simple, but at the same time basic rules, and the other day I read Lee Frost’s article “Night and Evening Photography.” If I had found her earlier, I wouldn’t have wasted so much time...
I tried to systematize the knowledge gained from personal experience and the experience of colleagues, and share it with those who find their inspiration in nightlife. Let me say right away that I don’t have many masterpieces; I’ve been photographing fireworks professionally for a little over a year.
SHUTTER SPEED AND APERTURE
The basic rule for shooting fireworks is the shutter speed ranges from one second to several minutes. The diaphragm either closes completely or opens almost completely - depending on at what moment you need to catch the opening of the dome. With a closed aperture, shutter speeds are correspondingly longer. First of all, you need to remember that the shutter speed must be correlated with the speed of the shots and depends on it. The projectile must have time to explode and scatter sparks before it completely fades out.
There is no need to explain that there are different fireworks, and their balls are different in caliber and height. Depending on the country of origin, they are read differently in the air and in photographs. In Europe they focus on color, in Asia - on the contrary - the balls are more faded and full of smoke. Before the fireworks start, try to find out the main points:
1. WHAT TIME IS THE FIRST SALLOW SET FOR?
2. WHAT IS THEIR DURATION?
3. WHAT IS THE HEIGHT OF THE BREAK?
The latter determines how far you should move away. It must be at least twice the height of the fireworks. For example, if the height (breaking point) is 100 m, then you need to move away at least 200 meters). The lowest spark height is found in smokeless stage pyrotechnics. The best picture, from a specialist’s point of view, is one with the correct geometry of the balls. Let’s say, if you stand frontally in relation to the “shooting range”, all the balls bursting from above should fire in one line. Let's draw a virtual line between the outermost balls and see - the closer the other balls are to it, the more correct it is. *
EVERYTHING IS IN SMOKE
If smoke gets into the frame, the picture
with it will turn out faded and inexpressive (photo 1).
As a rule, it always occurs in wet weather. It has been noticed that there is a lot of smoke at temperatures close to zero. At 6 - 7 degrees below zero it already disappears. And in the rain, if anything works, it is only with a long-focus lens, which can be covered with a hood or an umbrella (examples of unsuccessful shooting - photos 2, 3). Clouds also play a role. Most often they interfere - Moscow is constantly illuminated at night and the sky, instead of black or dark blue, turns gray, yellow or pink. *
COMBAT READINESS
Photography of fireworks requires careful preparation.
It is important not only to take a wide-angle lens and a good tripod with you, but also try not to forget the remote control (cable). High-quality shooting of fireworks is achieved in the traditional way - through long and hard training. It took me about four years. I hope you have less. Good luck!
